Moving and Restyling the FPS Counter Overlay

The FPS counter can sit anywhere on your screen and be styled so it does not get in the way of what you are doing.

Setting it up

1

Open FPS Counter in the sidebar

2

Choose your metrics and appearance on the left

A live preview shows the result on the right.
3

Set the position on screen

4

Launch the counter

Choosing a corner

Top left is the traditional spot and the one most streamers use. Consider what your game already puts there. If your health bar or minimap lives in that corner, pick another.

Making it less distracting

Fewer metrics and lower opacity. A counter you can read when you look for it and ignore when you do not is the goal. If you find yourself watching the numbers instead of the game, you have too many on.

If it does not appear in your game

The usual cause is fullscreen exclusive mode. Switch your game to borderless windowed and the overlay will appear. This is a limitation of how fullscreen exclusive works rather than a fault in the app.

Multiple monitors

The counter is placed relative to the display your game is on. If it appears on the wrong screen, check which display the game considers primary.

Does it cost frames

Very little, and far less than the in game overlays some launchers add. If you are chasing every last frame, turn it off once you have your measurements rather than leaving it running.
