Naming Your Crosshair: What Is and Is Not Allowed

Every custom crosshair needs a name. If the app refuses the one you typed, it will be one of a small number of reasons.

The rules

  • Give it a name. It cannot be blank.
  • Letters, numbers and spaces only.
  • Keep it within the character limit the app shows you.
  • Some names are not allowed at all.

Why letters, numbers and spaces only

Crosshairs can be shared and published to the community gallery, where other people see the name. Restricting it to plain characters keeps names readable in every language we support and stops symbols being used to disguise things.

That name is not allowed

If you get this message, the name has been blocked. Slurs, harassment and obvious attempts to get around the filter are refused. Pick another name and carry on.

If a perfectly ordinary name is being refused, that is a mistake on our side rather than a judgement about you. Tell us the name and we will look at it.

Renaming later

Open the crosshair in the editor and change the name. The same rules apply.

Names and share codes

When someone imports your crosshair from a code, they see the name you gave it. Worth a thought if you are sharing with a group.
