Is It Safe for Your Hardware

Nothing in RIP Tweaks overclocks your hardware, raises voltages or pushes components beyond their rated limits. It changes software settings.

What could make your PC hotter

Some tweaks keep your processor or graphics card in higher performance states instead of letting them idle down. That means more heat and more power, which is the intended trade. Those items say so on the card before you apply them.

Modern hardware protects itself. If it gets too hot it slows down rather than damaging itself. What you would notice is worse performance, not a broken part.

The ones that carry warnings

  • Disabling power saving entirely. Never use it on a laptop on battery.
  • Disabling the graphics timeout watchdog. If the card stops responding, your PC freezes rather than recovering.
  • Aggressive fan profiles. Running fans slower makes a PC hotter, which is worth thinking about before a long session.

Those warnings are not decorative. If you read one and are unsure, that is a good reason to skip it.

Watch your temperatures

The Specs page shows live temperatures. Check before and after applying the aggressive items. If they climbed more than you are comfortable with, revert them.

Everything is reversible

Make a restore point first and you can always return. One memory tweak is the exception and cannot be reverted from within the app. It says so, and if you are not certain, leave it alone.

Old hardware

An older PC with dusty fans is more likely to run hot. Cleaning it out physically will do more than any setting, and that is worth saying plainly.
