Undoing Changes When the App Will Not Open
If a change left your PC in a state where you cannot get into RIP Tweaks to undo it, you are not stuck. Your restore point works without the app.
Using a restore point from Windows
Search the Start menu for recovery and open the recovery options
Choose to open System Restore
Pick the restore point you made before tweaking
Confirm and let your PC restart
Restore points made by RIP Tweaks are ordinary Windows restore points, which is deliberate. They do not depend on our app existing.
If Windows will not start normally
Start in safe mode. Windows offers recovery options automatically after a couple of failed starts, and System Restore is available from there.
If you have no restore point
Then work backwards from what you changed last. Graphics and power tweaks are the usual culprits for a PC that will not start properly. Booting into safe mode and reverting your graphics driver is often enough.
What restoring does not undo
Your files are untouched. Programs installed since the restore point may need reinstalling.
This is why the first step matters
Make a restore point before you tweak. It costs a minute and it is the difference between a five minute inconvenience and a long evening.
If you cannot get anywhere
From another device, open the support bubble at the bottom right of any page and send us a message. Tell us what you changed last and what your PC does when you start it.
