Media Fixes: Streaming Black Screens, Snipping Tool and Notifications
Three repairs deal with things that quietly stop working and are hard to connect back to a cause.
Streaming Black Screens
If Netflix, Disney Plus or Hulu plays sound but shows a black screen, while the same video works on your phone, the content protection layer those services require has been disabled on your PC.
The fix restores it. This is one where people often blame the service and spend a long time getting nowhere.
Snipping Tool Not Working
If the Snipping Tool or the screenshot shortcut does nothing, its underlying component has been removed or disabled. The fix restores screen capture.
Missing System Notifications
If notifications stopped appearing and the Action Center is empty even though apps are set to send them, the notification service is off.
The fix restores it. Worth running if you have missed messages and only later realised your PC was not showing them.
The common thread
All three are usually caused by something that stripped Windows components, whether that was a debloat script, a privacy tool or a third party cleaner. This is also why our own Advanced Debloat carries a warning: deeper cleaning frees more resources and takes more features with it.
If you want to avoid this in future
Use Basic Debloat unless you have a reason not to, and make a restore point before Advanced. Both are on the Debloat page.
