The Home Screen and Your Optimization Level

The Home screen is what you see when you open RIP Tweaks. It is a summary rather than a place you do anything, and it is worth understanding before you go hunting through the sidebar.

The three cards at the top

Your processor, graphics card and memory, each with live usage and temperature where available. This is the quickest way to see what is in your PC and whether anything is running hot before you start.

Quick Start

Three shortcuts: create a backup, apply optimizations, and optimize your games. They are there because that is the order that works, and following it means you can always undo what you did.

Optimization Level

The ring on the right shows how many tweaks you have applied out of more than two hundred and fifty.

It is a progress indicator, not a score

A low number does not mean your PC is badly set up, and filling the ring is not the goal. Many tweaks are alternatives to each other, several only apply to hardware you may not have, and some are deliberately aggressive.

What a good number looks like

There is no target. A sensible pass on a typical PC lands somewhere in the middle of the ring and leaves the riskier items alone. Someone who has applied everything has almost certainly applied things they did not need.

Free tier and the ring

On the free tier you can apply ten tweaks, so the ring will not fill. That is expected and not a fault.

If the numbers look wrong

The count reflects what the app has applied through the app. Changes you made yourself in Windows are not counted, because the app did not make them.
