Setting Up RIP Tweaks on a Brand New PC
A new PC is the best case for this app, because you can set it up properly before years of clutter build up.
Do these first, before any tweaking
1
Let Windows finish its own updates
A half updated Windows will undo things and confuse the picture.
2
Install your graphics driver from the manufacturer rather than relying on the one Windows supplied
3
Restart
4
Open RIP Tweaks and create a restore point
On a clean machine this is the most valuable restore point you will ever have.
Then work through in this order
- Hardware, then CPU, which benefits almost every system
- Windows, for debloating and power
- Network and Input Lag as separate passes
- Restart, because several tweaks only take effect then
Debloat early
A new PC from a manufacturer often ships with software you did not ask for. Doing this before you install your own things makes it much easier to tell what is yours.
Do not apply everything
Especially not on a laptop, and especially not the power tweaks that disable power saving. A new laptop with its battery life destroyed on day one is a bad trade.
Use the free tier first
Ten tweaks is enough to see whether it does anything for this machine. If a new, fast PC shows little change, that is a good sign about your PC rather than a fault in the app.
