Track every update, fix, and improvement to RIP Tweaks.
Version 6.2
October 14, 2026New
- Ultimate Power Saving (Power page): the longest battery life for laptops. On battery it turns turbo boost off, keeps Energy Saver on, lets the CPU sleep, stops wake timers, saves power on USB and PCIe, drops the screen to 60 Hz and uses ASUS Silent mode. On ASUS laptops with two GPUs it can switch the dedicated GPU off. Plugged in, nothing changes. A live watt meter shows the difference, and turning it off puts every setting back.
- 3 new tweaks: Wi-Fi Gaming Session (Windows stops scanning for other Wi-Fi networks in the background until your next restart; on many Wi-Fi cards those scans cause ping spikes), Prefer IPv4 over IPv6 and NVMe Power Saving Off.
- Games: the NVIDIA profile for Fortnite and CS2 can also force Resizable BAR, for that game only. It is off unless you switch it on.
- Free Tweaks: on the free plan, quick tasks unlock extra tweak slots. Subscribe on YouTube for +1 for good, watch and like the latest video for +1 each until the next video comes out, and boost our Discord server for +3 while you boost. It is in the sidebar and shows up when you reach your tweak limit.
- Recovery: if a tweak ever cuts your internet or breaks a driver, the app still opens offline ("Continue offline" on the Connection Lost screen). Fixes, Backups and turning tweaks off work without internet, and the Fixes page has a "Turn off all my tweaks" button that puts every tweak back to the Windows default.
- CPU page: if you have a 13th or 14th gen Intel Core K, KF or KS CPU on old microcode, a warning tells you to update your BIOS (Intel's fix for these CPUs becoming unstable).
Changed
- The window now follows your Windows display scale, so the app is no longer tiny on laptops set to 125% or 150%. It still fits on the screen.
Fixes
- The app opens on PCs without the Microsoft Visual C++ runtime (before, nothing happened when you started it).
- On some PCs (newer Windows 11 builds, some graphics drivers) the app never opened its window. If a start fails like that, the next start switches to a safer graphics mode by itself, and a graphics error now shows a message instead of closing silently.
- The app could fail to install or repair its files when an antivirus was scanning them at the same moment ("could not write ..."), and then not start. It now waits for the file and tries again, and one busy file no longer stops the rest from being installed.
- Updates could fail and roll back when Windows or an antivirus still held a file. The update now waits a moment and tries again, checks the whole update is there before it starts, and two updates can no longer run at the same time.
- Applying a tweak could fail with "failed to retrieve hwid" right after Windows started. The app now tries again for a moment before it gives up.
- Premium could briefly not be confirmed after waking the PC from sleep. The app now asks the server once more before it gives up.
- Guests could not apply any tweak: every tap said the session needed a refresh. Guests can apply their 5 free tweaks again.
- Switching a lot of tweaks on or off quickly no longer shows error codes. A network tweak resets your connection for a few seconds, and the next tweak now waits for it to come back. Tweaks also run one at a time now, so two of them can no longer get in each other's way or leave a card stuck loading.
- RIP Power Plan failed on some PCs ("value malformed or out of range"). It now builds the plan from your PC's own power plan when Windows refuses ours.
- Startup apps: every app that "Disable all" turned off now shows in the list, so you can turn a single one back on (before, some could only come back with Restore).
- The Windows page told guests they could apply 10 tweaks. Guests can apply 5, like on every other page.
- An older power tweak script never removed a forced HPET timer setting, because of a typo in the command.
- After the NVIDIA clean driver install, the NVIDIA Control Panel could be missing (on newer drivers it is a Microsoft Store app, not part of the driver). The app now checks for it and offers a "Get NVIDIA Control Panel" button that opens its Store page, and the GPU page's NVIDIA button opens the Control Panel or its Store page. The NVIDIA App option no longer says it brings the Control Panel.
