Error Codes Explained: What a Code Starting With RIP Means
If something goes wrong in RIP Tweaks or RIP Reticle, the app shows you a short code that starts with RIP and is followed by six characters, for example RIPFSNQ57. That code is not a random number. It identifies exactly what failed, and it is the fastest way for us to help you.
Why you get a code instead of an error message
The same problem always gives the same code
What the code does and does not contain
The code is a label, not your data. It carries no personal information, no file names, no account details and nothing about what is on your PC. It only tells us which failure occurred.
Alongside the code, the app sends us the technical detail of the failure so a staff member can look it up. If your PC is offline at the time, you still get the code, the detail simply is not filed.
What to do with your code
Write the code down, or take a screenshot
Search this site for the code
If there is no page for it, send us a message from the support bubble at the bottom right and paste the code in
Codes that already have a fix
- RIPQ9R58B, the update could not start because a file was missing from your install folder
- RIPFSNQ57, the AMD graphics tweak stopped before it changed anything
- RIP982CQ3, the Intel graphics tweak stopped before it changed anything
If you cannot find the code again
The app remembers the last code from your current session, and the bug report form fills it in for you automatically. If you have closed the app since, just describe what happened instead and we will work it out.
