Hardware Fixes: Bluetooth, Printing and Laptop Screen Behaviour

Three repairs on the Fixes page deal with hardware that has stopped responding properly, where the hardware itself is fine.

Bluetooth Connectivity

If Bluetooth devices will not pair, or the Add device menu has disappeared entirely, the pairing services are disabled. The fix re-enables them. Restart afterwards to finish restoring the Add device menu.

Printing and Print Spooler

If printing does nothing, or jobs queue and never come out, the print service and the services it depends on have usually been stopped. The fix restores them.

This is a common casualty of security advice, because that service has had well publicised problems and plenty of guides tell people to disable it permanently.

Auto-Rotate and Brightness on Laptops

If your laptop screen no longer rotates when you turn it, or adaptive brightness has stopped, the sensor services are off. The fix restores both.

Check the obvious first

1

For Bluetooth, check it is switched on in Windows and that the device is in pairing mode

2

For printing, check the printer is on and reachable, and try it from another device

3

If the hardware works elsewhere but not on this PC, run the fix

If the fix does not help

That usually points at drivers rather than services. Updating the manufacturer driver for the specific device is worth trying before anything else.
