What a Device Reset Costs
Your licence activates on one PC at a time. Moving it to a different PC means resetting the device link. Here is exactly what that costs, so nothing at checkout is a surprise.
If you have active Premium
After that, the price rises each time
Why it goes up
A licence is for one person on one PC. Moving occasionally is normal and we make the first one free. Moving repeatedly is what licence sharing looks like, and the rising price is what stops it without punishing genuine customers. Most people never pay for a reset at all.
How to avoid paying for one
If you still have the old PC, sign out there before signing in on the new one. That releases the link without using a reset
If you are reinstalling Windows on the same PC, sign out first if you can
If the old PC is gone or dead, you cannot sign out, and a reset is the right route. You do not need access to it
What the app shows you
Before you pay anything, the app shows the price of your next reset and which number it is. If it says your reset is free, it is free.
If you did not change anything
A Windows update can occasionally change enough about your PC to look like a different machine. If you have not swapped hardware and are being asked to reset, do not pay. Send us a message from the support bubble at the bottom right with the email on your account and we will sort it out.
If you think the price is wrong
Tell us before paying. It is much easier for us to check your reset history than to refund you afterwards.
