How to Install RIP Tweaks on Windows 10 and 11

Installation takes about a minute.

1

Go to the download page at https://riptweaks.com/download/ and click Download

2

If you are not signed in, you will be asked to log in or create an account first. An account is free and takes a few seconds. You can sign in with Google or create one with your name, email and a password

3

The installer downloads automatically to your browser’s downloads folder

4

Double click the installer and click Next through the setup screens, then Finish

5

Open RIP Tweaks from your desktop or Start menu and sign in

There is nothing to configure during setup. The installer handles everything.

Signing in

You can sign in through the website, which is the quickest option, or type your email and password directly into the app. Your licence is checked when you sign in, so you need to be online the first time.

If Windows or your antivirus warns you. This is normal for any app that changes system settings. See “Antivirus and Security Warnings” for what to do.

If the download does not start

Check your browser’s downloads folder before trying again, since some browsers download silently. If it still will not start, try a different browser.

Before you install

What you need

Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64 bit. Around 200MB of free disk space. An internet connection for the first sign in. RIP Tweaks does not work on older versions of Windows, on macOS or on Linux.

Administrator rights

Some tweaks change system level settings, so the app needs to run as administrator. If you are on a work or school machine that blocks this, most of the app will not be able to do its job.

What happens during installation

The installer copies the app, registers it with Windows so it appears in your installed programs list, and creates the shortcut. It does not change any system settings on its own. Nothing is optimized until you open the app and choose to apply something.

Common problems while installing

Windows SmartScreen warns you

Click More info then Run anyway. This happens with newly released versions until Windows has seen the file enough times. Full detail in Antivirus and security warnings.

Your antivirus quarantines the installer

Add an exclusion for the download and for the install folder, then run it again.

The installer will not start

Right click it and choose Run as administrator. If it still does nothing, download it again, since an interrupted download leaves a file that looks complete but is not.

You are asked to sign in

That is expected. Your account is what carries your licence between installs, so you can reinstall Windows, log back in and keep everything.

Verifying the file came from us

Right click the installer, choose Properties, and open the Digital Signatures tab. A valid signature there confirms the file came from us and has not been changed since we built it. That is worth doing with any software you did not write yourself.

After it is installed

Open the app and create a restore point before you change anything. It takes a couple of clicks and means your whole system can be put back exactly as it was. See Restore points and undoing changes, then Your first optimization.
